Green Oil UK's Protest Directory Green Oil UK is not liable for, but would like you to know about the following protests:
Ceasefire in Gaza Now! Saturday 17th January More details soon March to the Embassy of Apartheid Israel Israel was created in 1948, creating more than 400,000 Palestinian refugees. It expanded in 1967, creating more refugees. Palestine is now split in two (with Israel in the middle), with the Palestinian West Bank, and then Gaza on the other side. Israel has continued to expand, knocking down Palestinian homes, and taking Palestinian farm land. Isreal has refused to obey international law and peace agreements and receed to its 1967 border. Israel recently cut off Gaza from the outside world, with an illegal apartheid wall. Israeli soldiers act with impunity to murder civilians and damage Palestian property. A few Palestinians therefore wrongly take out their anger by randomly fireing rockets into Israel. Hamas (the elected government in Gaza) stated they would stop rocket attacks if Israel opened up border crossings. Israel refused, leaving Palestinians to starve. In an attempt to murder as many people as possible before Bush leaves the Whitehouse, Israel have once again let loose in Gaza. Universties, schools and civilians have been destroyed and killed. Civilians are being targeted by Israel, and even marked UN buildings, which provided shelter for women and childrenhave been bombed. Israel refuses ceasefire requests. So come to the march on Saturday: More on Israeli demolition of Palestinian houses:
Flash Mob on Heathrow Terminal 5 The Saturday after the government announces to go ahead with Heathrow's expansion (if they do announce it- hopefully they won't!) Heathrow Terminal 5 'Security North' section
Meet at the 'Security North' section. Reveal you red t-shirt and then pelt Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon with red sponges. Show them we're in it for the long-haul! With Geoff Hoon, the new Transport Minister, expected to announce the Labour Government’s decision on Heathrow expansion in December, we’ve announced our plans for a Decision Day flashmob back at Heathrow Terminal 5 - where it all started earlier this year. Here’s the plan: unless *all* expansion plans for Heathrow are dropped, a Stop Airport Expansion flashmob will take place at Heathrow Terminal 5 on the first Saturday after the decision is announced. We will be unveiling our tshirts at 12 noon (on the dot!) in the departures section of Terminal 5. Be ready to come! Red t-shirts are desirable but not essential! The flashmob will be an immediate chance to demonstrate our feelings if expansion is given the go-ahead - and show that opposition to expansion is not over for the Government by any stretch of the imagination. More details coming soon! To make sure you get notified about the flashmob, join our low-volume email list by sending a blank email to stopairportexpansion-subscribe@lists.riseup.net
Be there. Your planet needs you.
